Overview & Biography

A playful, mischievous viera witch. Chaos gremlin, trans woman, and wife to Natsumi Oshidari. Beginning her life as a foundling in the Northern Empty, thirty-some years ago, Aisleita grew up at sea but has long-since made a home for herself on land, both in Eorzea and the east.

Notes & Out-of-Character

Any major blanks in the lore that I've needed to fill in myself will generally be listed here, along with some other notes about Aisleita. Or you can find some contact information and a tiny bit about the player, if you really want.

Biography

Aisleita is a trans woman (though one should not make assumptions what's between her legs), born thirty-some years ago in the Northern Empty — at least to the best of her knowledge. She was 'adopted' by a crew of smugglers, spies, and other ne'er-do-wells of varying sorts, and given her name by the man she considers he grandfather — a slightly-superstitious, boisterous old sea wolf by the name of Agatoeya Grynehaemrsyn. She was separated from her found family in her early teens, and survived on a pirate vessel operating in the Bloodbrine Sea and Indigo Deep, a 'favourite' of the woman running that show, favoured for her magical talents. As this was after the partial outlawing of piracy by the Limsan Admiralty, she eventually found herself forced out of that life rather abruptly, a few years prior to the Seventh Umbral Calamity. That time around the Calamity isn't something she often discusses freely with others, but it was the time where she could most freely practice her magic, alchemy, and swordplay, building up most of the skills she uses, along with a healthy appreciation for forests, jungles, coastlines, and the natural world. Not long before the start of the Seventh Astral Era, Aisleita first set foot in Aldenard, having only briefly seen Vylbrand before — this being her first real time in Eorzea proper, where she'd spend the following years of her life, eventually settling down. Not that 'settling down' meant very much for a woman like her, still exhibiting many of the wild traits from her youth (and, indeed, still quite young for a viera), even once she'd carved out a small place for herself in the world. It was during this time that she eventually met the woman who she'd later marry, a minor noble of a far-eastern Hingan family, Natsumi Oshidari. First meeting in Sharlayan, of all places, Aisleita, along with her wife, now mostly split their time between Eorzea and Hingashi, along with various excursions into other parts of the world.

(There's quite a bit more to Aisleita's character, backstory, and current activities, of course, but spilling everything here and now would be boring and waste far too many words.)

Hooks...

  • Enchanting Oddities: The piece of the world Aisleita carved out for herself is centred around her workshop, Enchanting Oddities (of which she is one herself), where she keeps her personal library, workspace for alchemy and magics, and a small storefront, selling mostly potions and books, along with the occasional trinket, bauble, or artifact. She takes commissions, as well as sometimes being willing to buy — or at least investigate — relics or artifacts brought to her by others.

  • Mischief and Curiosity: Aisleita is a bit of a gremlin at times. She's curious, unrestrained, and willing to do things that are generally considered inappropriate, especially if nobody seems like they'll stop her. So hidden places? They might get explored. Locked doors? Perhaps those will get picked. Forbidden tomes? Absolutely getting read. And, of course, this can sometimes get her into some trouble, or at least getting caught in an awkward place.

Secrets...

  • Fae Heritage: While she is a rava viera, Aisleita has ancestry involving some sort of fae folk (i.e., moogles, sylphs, nu mou, etc. — beings with innate magical talent). As a result, sometimes an 'odd' capability or physical feature manifests — such as her horns. Overall, though, it mostly means an affinity for glamours, illusions, and tricksy magicks, plus an inclination towards somewhat-harmless mischief.

  • Rift Traveller: While not extensively experienced in such things, Aisleita has visited one of the Reflections, and has some knowledge on how to, possibly, cross the rift between worlds under very specific circumstances. Note, however, that this knowledge rarely comes up, outside of her knowledge of the cosmology of the Star (on par with a moderately-studied Sharlayan scholar).

Looking For...

  • Adventure: Aisleita likes getting herself into little adventures here and there. She's often particularly enthusiastic about anything that either lets her have some fun with various typically-illegal things (such as breaking-and-entering, blackmail, spying, ...), or just lets her explore a new part of the world, especially out in the wilds.

  • Casual/Comedy: Causal and comedic RP often come hand-in-hand for Aisleita, as she's a bit of a gremlin when there's nothing pressing or concerning happening. She has a few spaces where she might meet someone incidentally, in a calm, peaceful setting — her shop (books, potions, magicks), or her small company-run tavern.

  • Sex and Sexuality...?: She's got quite a submissive, depraved streak in her — albeit one that she keeps pretty quiet when she's in tame company or a tense, dangerous situation. If you are someone who's keen on such things, though... You might find a link you'd be interested in, in the contact section.

Not Interested In...

  • Romance: Aisleita is happily married to Natsumi, and has no interest in looking for more love outside of that relationship. She's, when not being a chaos gremlin, warm and kind to the people she cares about, but that has nothing to do with romantic love or romantic feelings, so please don't mistake it for such. Sex and nudity, though... That might happen, sometimes.

  • Bigotry: Any real-world-derived bigotry is a hard no. I don't care if "that's how your character thinks", that's a terrible excuse. If it's purely fantasy bigotry with a backstory-related basis, then there is a small amount of leeway — a character who hates Garleans, distrusts Sylphs, is a xenophobic Gridanian, ... won't necessarily be immediately walked away from, unless that bigotry is essentially the character's whole identity.

Contact

Hi, you can call me Aisleita, or just Ais — I usually prefer that over my real name, until I get to know someone. Above there's a few ways to contact me but, in general, I prefer being contacted in-game first, when possible. Especially if, for some reason, you can't do so, feel free to use Discord. (However, please note I rarely RP over Discord.) And yes, there's an F-list... My partner (who plays Aisleita's in-game wife/owner, Natsumi) told me I should link it from here, so you'd better thank her for that. For posterity, I'm a millennial trans woman — meaning I'm well into adulthood at this point, and prefer socializing with other people in vaguely similar stages of their life. Or, in simpler terms, I like interacting with people who hypothetically are adults (even if most of us don't feel like we are). And if you've got any problem with any sort of queerness or are a bigot of any kind... Go away, you're not tolerated here.Additonally, if you're under 18, kindly go find someone your own age to socialize with instead. I'm sure you're a lovely person, but you're just not someone I have any interest in hanging out with, thanks.

Roleplaying/Lore Notes

Calendar Dates

We've never been given a really concrete answer on how time passes during the MSQ, so I've just made up my own mind on it. I take the time since ARR launch as the time since the Seventh Calamity (I'm aware of the problems with doing this, but it also lines up passage of time conveniently, so I don't care), meaning going into 2026 it will be about thirteen years in-universe. This works out to each of the first five expansions taking about a year of time to happen apiece, and everything from Dawntrail onward being in approximately real-time.I notate dates in a way that makes sense to me, as I don't recall ever seeing an in-lore shorthand given explicitly. An example of my notation is year 1550 of the Sixth Astral Era — I notate that as 15506AE. I also assume that the final year of an era is the same year as year zero of the next era (i.e., 15726AE is also 07UE, or 57UE is also 07AE).Even with all this, the most common reason I have to deal with dates and times is for how old Aisleita was during the 7th Umbral Calamity — the answer to which is "in her early 20s". If this doesn't quite line up with your character's timeline, please just ignore it, it's relatively inconsequential in all but the most in-depth of storytelling.

Retcons

Aisleita's a character that I've played for almost six years now. She's gone through a number of changes and even some retcons — the majority of which have been minor, though there have been a few big ones. The most notable retcon is that she used to be a sea wolf, a rather obvious change with simply a glance at her.Elements of her backstory and some past RP have also been altered or discarded at various times, especially to keep the character's past experiences from bogging her down too much or ever making her unpleasant to write. If you've interacted with her anytime in the past six years, she is the same character still... Though she might be a bit different than you remember her.If you've interacted with her in the past and have any concerns/questions, feel free to reach out.
